Evening all!

Hope you're all having a lovely week so far!

I'm knee deep in coursework for my MSc in Speech and Language Sciences but I still managed to sneak in a little me time this evening :) - I was lucky enough to see good old Jimmy Carr for the fourth time and yet again he was half the size he was the time before! Good for him!

A friendly lady in the audience spotted me sporting my "D" Scrabble Ring and wanted me to show it to her friend - I presume he is an avid scrabble fan like me! If you too like the sound of my scrabble rings then have a look at one of my earlier posts for a picture. I'll also put a picture of some scrabble cufflinks I have made on here as soon as I locate a photographic device that is far greater than my meagre iPhone 3G!

Scrabble cufflinks not grab you?! What about Lego Brick cufflinks?

Just £6.99 each. So cheap you can easily afford to get a few!

Or what about my new Lego Mini Figure Cufflinks?!

Both Mini Figure Cufflink sets above are priced at just £9.99. If you have a certain figure in mind that you would like then contact me for a quote - cufflink prices depend on how scare the figures are and whether they are "new" or "vintage"!

Hope to hear from you soon.

Behind The Bead Bank!

Hello!

The majority of my exams are now over and I feel like I have my life back again (for the next few days at least!). It's only temporary until I hand my thesis in in September but I thought I'd take the opportunity to catch up on a few Bead Bank orders!

Few snaps for you below of "behind the scenes". Plenty more to follow and even a little mini video clip will be posted in the next few weeks.

In other news...I'm talking to people in Hong Kong to try and set up a more reliable supplier for some of my materials. Perhaps this is just exciting for me?! :)

Thanks for looking. Would love to hear your comments.

Easter Catch Up

Happy Easter to all the Bead Bank fans!
It’s been a busy few months for me so I’m sorry that I haven’t been online all that much to keep your interest going! However, I’ve finished all my lectures now (for my MSc in Speech and Language Therapy) and I’m just about to complete my final placement at The Royal Free Hospital before I can graduate. There’s just a little matter of exams and a few pieces of coursework/thesis to write over the summer but come September time I’ll be free!! (Can you tell how excited I am?)
Not only will I get my life back (3 years working in between my degree was far more fun than studying!) but I’ll have lots of time to create more jewellery and lots more time to take lots of photos for you. It may sound far too early…but if anyone hears of any Christmas craft fairs going on in their area then get in touch! – Just putting the idea out there.
This week I had the biggest challenge yet…to make a necklace for a good friend of mines mother…with very little notice I must add. This involved a lot of beading on the tube – an activity which draws masses of attention and makes me feel very pressured! However, the biggest pressure was to make something for a fellow jewellery/bead fanatic. The decision was easy of course…a replica of my silver beaded chain necklace. News just in is that she loved it. Phew!

And here it is!

I just want to remind everyone that all pieces from ‘The Show’ are on sale and can be ordered in a range of different colours. Do you have the perfect summer outfit but struggling to find something that will go? If so, send me your budget and jewellery needs/a photo of your outfit and I’ll let you know what would work best and how much it would cost. My prices range from £1-£55 (for the time consuming beaded chain necklaces) so it’s always worth enquiring as there is always something I can make to suit any budget.
The red chip bead necklace (seen on the MODO catwalk and pictured below) was recently ordered in a turquoise colour. This was a stunning necklace and I was sad to post it off in the end! I definitely need to find the time to make myself one. You can of course never have too much jewellery! If you would like to order one too then I can guarantee that it’d be a great addition to your spring/summer 2011 wardrobe as this piece is the perfect way to effortlessly go from casual day wear to evening [again, photos to follow asap].

I’d also like to take this opportunity to ask customers to take photos of them wearing their purchases and put them onto the Bead Bank Facebook fan page. Alternatively, please email your photos to thebeadbank@gmail.com and I’ll pop them online for you.
Thanks again for your support for this fledgling business! All retweets and posts about the Facebook page are and will continue to be greatly appreciated! Please help me to spread the word about The Bead Bank, the jewellery designs that are being produced and the relative ease of ordering bespoke handmade pieces of jewellery. It is of course wedding season! Ordering bespoke jewellery is the perfect way to ensure nobody else at the wedding party is accessorised quite like you are!

Again, Happy Easter to all!

Hey everyone!

Uni work is still ruling my life so not many pieces have been made recently :( sorry!

I can't upload sneak previews of what I've been up to just yet (will tell all when I can) but they'll be on here as soon as I can do!

The Show is fast approaching!!

Eek! So much to do and so little time! Will I ever be ready?! Especially now i've heard the BBC are likely to make an appearance. Super exciting but super scary!

I've heard that Kate Middleton is keeping the name of her wedding dress designer under wraps and they are an up and coming and therefore unknown designer. It's causing journalists to seek out who it might be! And where should they look...a brilliant young team of budding designers at UCL!

Tickets have just gone on sale so hurry quick!
Details can be found on the Facebook event page below:

And seeing as you are going on Facebook - you might as well join The Bead Bank site too right?!!

The Bead Bank is now on Facebook!!

http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Bead-Bank/184601358228059?ref=sgm
I have no intention of filling a blog with pictures of myself...in fact I'm hoping to avoid it! I've been terrible over the years and haven't actually taken photos of my work so this will have to do for now so you can see what I've been creating! Rest assurred that I have a willing and talented photographer who has agreed to sort this out for me in early February so keep checking back to see photos added!

Hello and Welcome to my first ever blog post!

How exiciting! I have no idea what I'm doing but hey ho I'll figure it out soon enough! So if you're one of the first people to "follow" me then I'm assuming you already know me pretty well - thank you for your continued support!!

What do I plan to do with this blog?
To keep you updated with how I'm getting on developing "The Bead Bank" brand, to showcase my designs so far and as a hub for questions/requests from you! If your friend's like my jewellery too, please feel free to signpost them to this site for more info. It'd be rude to keep people away from the action right?!

I think I'll leave it at that for now but hopefully you'll be a regular visitor and will leave me lots of comments about my designs/ideas - good or bad! Proper photos will follow shortly as soon as my current work has been professionally papped. But, for now, please have a look at some pictures of me wearing my designs!

Take Care,
Debbie Banks
